Reverend Jay Cooper, Senior Pastor - Jay is a Texas native, but has pastored churches in New Jersey and Arizona, served as a volunteer missionary in Guatemala and worked with The Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church in New York City. He considers himself a bit of a Christian mutt: a mix of Methodist, Catholic, Evangelical and Progressive (with a bit of Longhorn fan sprinkled in for good measure). He loves being part of a community of faith that is so welcoming, justice-oriented and intentional about following in the Way of Jesus.
Jays passion is meeting with people to hear about their lives and faith stories... so email him and ask him to buy you a coffee (or beer!): firstname.lastname@example.org
Jo Kretzler, Pastoral Assistant - Jo grew up in Manchester in the north of England where she attended the Hulme Grammar School For Girls. Jo was involved with the Methodist Association of Youth Groups (MAYC) and was a youth leader at Saint Paul’s Methodist Church, Shaw, England. She majored in fine art at Oldham College of Art and later studied Architectural Design at the University of Teesside.
Upon moving to Texas, she and her husband Randal ran a design consultancy working for many clients within the fitness industry. Jo and Randal have two daughters currently in high school.
Jo was one of the founding members of Gateway Church, a non-denominational church here in Austin and spent many years in leadership there. She worked mostly with the women’s ministry, providing pastoral counseling to couples, and teaching.
Jo is a recent MDiv. graduate of Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and is currently seeking ordination within the United Methodist Church.
Adam Roberts, Music Director - Adam has served as musical director with churches in Ohio, Florida and Texas, and he couldn't be happier to be part of the St. Luke team! When not at St. Luke, you can find him on the Dell Jewish Community Campus, where he is artistic director of the Austin Jewish Repertory Theater, at the Long Center for the Performing Arts where he conducts the Greater Austin High School Musical Theatre Awards and coaches prospective college musical theatre majors, or instructing both beginners and professionals in musical theatre performance at the State School of Acting. He's also artistic director of The Final Acts Project, an organization that utilizes the arts to facilitate end-of-life conversations, and a conductor and director of musical theatre around the city. Have a favorite song you'd like to sing or hear? Feeling called to join the St. Luke choir? Be sure to stop by and talk to Adam before or after the service in either case, or just to say hi!
Austin Ford Taylor, Contemporary Service Worship Leader - Austin is a native of the suburbs of Dallas, Texas (Plano, to be specific) and is currently attending the University of Texas. He has led worship for the past 7 years, primarily at St. Andrew UMC in Plano, and is currently the Worship Director for the Texas Wesley, a campus ministry at UT Austin. The call to worship is one of Austin's greatest passions, along with college football Saturday afternoons and scoping out any of Austin's great restaurants with his friends.
